HOW TO MAKE ADVANCED ONLINE USER STUDIES MEANINGFUL

Abstract It is of vital importance to explore and understand future users' needs requirements in the early phases product development process. However, times social distancing meeting users might not be possible. The project reported on this paper has investigated possibilities conducting advanced user studies online. In total 30 small experimental have been conducted. Common digital tools that were used e.g. Zoom, Teams, Mural, Miro, Snapchat, Instagram. data was analyzed a thematic content analysis by authors Mural. Identified challenges excluding tech-savvy groups, missing out interpersonal interaction observations, as well difficulties creating participant commitment trust. On positive side perceived efficiency, more levelled power distribution between participants, ease engagement retrieval for users. best practices included lowering barriers through warm up activities techniques support open discussion during workshops. Furthermore, could supported private media regular reminders, clear communication purpose goal activities.
